Led Zeppelin - In Through The Out Door

Led Zeppelin - In Through The Out Door

The last Led Zeppelin studio album. I grew up listening and discussing the most famous Led Zeppelin albums and later came to my attention other albums, not so famous, like "In Through The Out Door". The first time I listened for this album I was surprised about the music within it. I listened for something different from the previous albums and came to my attention the use of keyboards in most parts of the songs. Also, most of the songs of the album In Through The Out Door is repetitive but still good music. I'm not a good music critic and started to search over the internet more information about this album. It was recorded in Sweden for 3 weeks and it's the final studio album of the band. The band members were not in the studio at the same time. There are different sleeves launched and some of them really hard to find. All sleeves are basically the same bar but with the characters in different angles, just like each character took a picture to show the other side of the environment. Each one of these covers were used in the album edition in different parts of the world. The bar is a re-creation of the original bar located in New Orleans, Louisiana and is called Absinthe Bar.

My curiosity for the album makes me keep listening all the tracklist for several days in a row. I have learned to love the album and also respect and understand the problems the band Led Zeppelin was facing in 1977 and 1978.

I found that there are something happening with the band at this time we need to understand. Presence was recorded 1976 and was composed by Jimmy Page in only two weeks and he's never been the same after Presence album. What happened in 1977 :
- in the mid of the 1977 tour Robert Plant's son passed away;
- in 1978 Page were addicted to heroin;
- Bonham were in serious problems with alcohol
- Jones were not interested in tours / recording
That was the situation in 1978 when Led Zeppelin recorded "In Through The Out Door", and it is considered the weakest album of the band for some music critics. Anyway, I enjoyed listening for the tracklist and I think there are very interesting stuff inside.

The first track, In The Evening, has a beautiful intro and it's one of my favorite songs. It's a good song and the guitar solo is also very good. It comes to my attention the Robert Plant vocals in this song. He sang differently. The base line is repetitive but the combination of vocals, keyboards and guitar made the quality of this song.

South Bound Saurez is something different
Fool In The Rain successful and controversial song with some Latin music touches. The melody is just great.

Fool In The Rain is another song which is very repetitive but they made good arrangements to keep it interesting. Some will hate and others will enjoy listening this.

Hot Dog is a very American style of song, and you can remember the Elvis era. I don't like this song but worth a listen.

Carouselambra is a song full of synthesizers and you can expect to listed for it during all the 10 minutes. The keyboard is the base of the song, very repetitive but still very interesting to listen. The variation of the base came on the end of the song which gives a special touch.

All My Love is one of the most famous song of the band.

I'm Gonna Crawl is a blues song. The vocals is very good and the instruments are absolutely great. I love it !
